The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust (CCC) is one of the UK’s leading cancer centres providing highly-specialist cancer care to the population of Cheshire, Merseyside and the surrounding areas including the Isle of Man. We provide a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies. We are also the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers and host the region’s Teenage and Young Adult Unit (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust).
This is an exciting time to join us as we continue to develop our strategy and partnerships in the evolving landscape of the Merseyside and Cheshire health economy. To progress our ambitions, we are pursuing an innovative strategy which includes a major investment in a new cancer hospital in Liverpool. We have a system-wide leadership role for cancer services and will deliver our strategy through effective collaboration with our partners.
With our new Chief Executive, Dr Liz Bishop, taking up her role at the end of November 2018 and with our new hospital due to open in 2020 you will be joining at a pivotal time for transformation of cancer care in the region.
As the Chair you will lead the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre’s team of dedicated staff, volunteers and governors, building on the culture and commitment that is at the heart of the Trust’s on-going success. You will have recent and relevant Board and chairing experience, including non-executive director experience, and be able to demonstrate independence, sound judgement and diplomacy. A dynamic leader of large complex organisations, you will be able to draw on your full range of experience, from either the public, private or voluntary sector to support our expansion and innovation in these challenging -and exciting - times.
